Equestrienne artist, Ann Perkins, is conducting three art classes at Ace / Ben Franklin this month. For convenience, artists may choose classes offered on Tuesday or Friday mornings, from 10:00am until noon, or Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
In the classes the emphasis will be on how to plan a better painting with improved drawing skills. Participants may work in graphite, colored pencil, pastel, watercolor, gouache or acrylic. Each artist
will work at his or her own pace and may join the
on-going classes at anytime. Classes will be structured but flexible, geared toward each
individual’s ability and interest.
Subjects covered will be perspective, balance, shading, color theory and temperature, composition and creating drama in your paintings. The five basic elements which apply to all types of paintings will be discussed. These elements appear in landscapes, still lifes and portraiture.
Advanced sign up is required. Forms are available in the crafts department at the store
or by calling Ann Perkins at (603) 382-5908.
Ann Perkin’s interest in art came early, when at six years old, she won a prize for a graphite drawing which was submitted to a Boston television children’s program. She has exhibited at area art shows, such as the Nashua Area Art Association’s Greeley Park Art Show, the Seacoast Artist Association’s Annual Show at the Drake Farm in North Hampton, the Exeter Art Committee’s shows in Exeter’s town gallery, the Alewife Festival in Exeter, and the Annual Kingston Days Art Show. She’s been featured artist of the month at the Seacoast Gallery, Exeter, and the Colby Memorial Library in Danville.
